Industry Attraction

On behalf of the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine (RDKS), SNCIRE networks with resource-based industries looking at the Skeena-Nass region as a potential area for investment. SNCIRE provides these industries with information, logistical support, contacts and site visits.

Benefits

Our purpose is to attract new business to the Northwest region by gathering and providing information on, and marketing the competitive benefits of the area to businesses and investors that can benefit from the resources, infrastructure and people that are part of the Skeena Nass region.

Rationale
This work takes place within the context that:

• The Skeena-Nass region is on the verge of significant economic activity related to several large-scale projects;
• This activity will likely lead directly to regional opportunities as well as increased demand on local government, institution and business services;
• Efforts to leverage the opportunities and prepare for the service demands have been ad hoc and limited; and
• With the possible exception of labour market information and strategy development, there continues to be a lack of coordination or resources to address those needs in a comprehensive or collaborative way.
