Northwest Innovation Challenge 2014

Northwest Innovation Challenge winners organizers and sponsors group photoIn the spring of 2014, SNCIRE hosted its first Northwest Innovation Challenge, a regional contest that encourages and celebrates Northwest BC innovation. Competitors from around the region submitted innovative ideas and projects to compete for $8,500 in prize money. Twelve finalists were chosen and presented their ideas to the judges and the public on Friday, May 9 in Terrace.

Finalists came from across the region and included two high school students. We awarded over $11,000 in prize money and over 100 people attended the event. One winner described the Northwest Innovation Challenge as a life-defining moment, and many of the finalists used the competition as a springboard to further their ideas.

First, second and third prizes were awarded. A $2,500 Terrace Community Forest prize went to the most innovative use of a bioproduct. A $1,000 UNBC Northwest prize went to the most innovative entry that addresses the needs and opportunities of Northern BC. Plus everyone attending voted for the $1,000 People's Choice Award.

A big thanks to our sponsors and event partners.
